In August 2020, Apple kicked out the iOS App Store to violate its terms, epic Games ignored Apple’s 30 % transaction fee by adding its payment processor to Apple’s 30 % transaction fee. Almost five years later, Fortnite is eventually available at the US App Store.
Withdrawal is not a completely winner for epic, but at this point, Epic’s CEO Tim Swini is ready for a war.
After the 2020 stunts, which received the boot to Fortenite, Swinn took Apple to the court at his insistence that the iOS app developer only uses Apple’s payment processor.
The court did not give the epic what really wanted, which caused Apple to include iOS app developers to include their own app payment options, but said Apple could not prevent us from instructing users to purchase external websites.
However, Apple was not ready to surround the soil so much. It enforces a new fee and ‘complying’ with the order that applies to the purchase of the app and finds new ways to warn users against using third -party payment options.
Epic protested, and in April this year, Apple was seriously condemned by the court, saying that compliance with the iPhone maker was “reputation of tension” and insisted that it stopped immediately interfering with the app purchase.
It was good enough for a sigh, which demanded peace. The CEO said, “If Apple extends a court friction -free, Apple tax -free framework around the world, we will return Fortentite to the App Store worldwide and leave the current and future legalism on the subject.”
Despite the court’s insistence that it “will not tolerate further delays”, Apple has still stopped the epic re -echo approval, which led to further protests, when Swini finally announced that the game had returned to iOS devices, Tweeting “We returned the fame.”
Apple and Epic have told the court that they have resolved their differences (at least), and that Fortatite is once again available in the US App Store. It is also available on the mobile version of the Epic Games Store in Europe, which can operate on iOS in EPIC Europe, not because of EU rules. (It is also on another third -party iOS App Store called Alt Store.)
Since the epic app is ready to return to the store after the court’s decision, it offered 20 % bonus to players to purchase through their payment systems instead of Apple.
