Black mirror has been somewhat synonymous with a brutal end. Episodes such as ‘White Beer’ and ‘Shutup and Dance’ have pulled the carpet under their audience in their last actions, but the latest season of the show – while still beautiful dark, for most parts – is more hopeful.
“You’ve got a fair part of the frustration and/or sincerity, I would say,” Broker tells the Gamer+ when we ask if he thinks he has stopped giving his characters such a difficult time.
“But you say right, not everyone leaves the episodes on the floor … Hope in the world, yes. I mean, I mean, I don’t know that you have recently searched the window, but not much hope out, so we’re trying to give you a little indoor hope.”
With temporary hope, another thread that connects the majority of this season with each other is that work is mixed with tech, whether it be in the ‘ordinary people’ ways to earn an exploitative amount, ‘byte Nair’ toxic workplace dynamics, or ‘Hotel Reverery’.
For executive producer Jessica Roods, the second event of the ‘Botti Noir’, which is related to the enmity of the rapidly operating space in life, is the most resonant. “I think when you are talking about gas lighting, or to reduce the reality of someone’s imagination that you experience it, these are the most irrelevant things that usually make you fear.” “Because you feel as if they are viable, and this is a lot in the dynamics of the workplace.”
