Nintendo may have been synonymous with video games today, but the company really started as a play card company. Founded in 1889, Nintendo actually developed Hanfuda-a type of card used to play a variety of games starting in the 16th century. Nintendo has continued to issue a card deck, although these days are included, including Traditional 52 cards off Zelda– and Mario Tamidar Deck As well as unique Hanfuda Cards in Mushroom Kingdom characters.
Nintendo play cards are mainly sold in Japan, though a group of imported decks has popped up on Amazon over the past years.
