Weather Games is a clear example of a series of improvements in the history of video game. There is no behind: Witcher was a mess, Witcher 2 was truly decent, and Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a masterpiece. Vachar 3’s success made the CD project red on Sony’s speed dial, but there were other results.
Witcher 3 on 10
To celebrate her 10th birthday, all this week we are looking at Witcher 3 – and also waiting for her upcoming sequel. More features and retreats are re -examined, as well as deep interviews with developers that revive the game.
“It gave us confidence that we can provide a really expensive and charming RPG,” said PC Gamer’s Joshua Wallons, says Joint CEO and member of the Board, Mika Novakoski. Novakoski recalled, “And that we can nest our weight and we can get head with big people. I remember, I really, really, feared the quality that Dragon Age: Inquiry is about to be established,” said Novakoski.
While both ended it for the RPG of the Year Awards (“I thought it was a terrific game,” Novakoski says about the contestant), Vachar 3 was a breakdown that changed expectations in the CD project Red. “It gave us confidence,” says Novakoski. “There may be a lot of confidence in many ways to look back, asking the truth, because I think it was a bit of magical thinking for the company, which was stopped only after cyberpank.”
Or as Adam Baduvasky, other joint CEOs and board members of the CD Project Red, say, “We turn from the Under Dog to the company that appears in the industry.”
The theory of magical thinking brings bipolar magic to the mind, the idea that a disturbing video game will inevitably come together during the final phase of development as this was the last time. And when this concept is repeatedly torn, it remains intact as many video games come together at the last minute. Even like a classic Thieves: It was not fun to play the Dark Project until it was almost finished.
“I remember, especially for Vacher 3, watching a version of the game, which was kept together, I think it was like February 2015?” Novakoski remembered. “I remember I went to Adam and said,” How are we in good condition? Because it seems that it’s not really good. ” You know, ‘Don’t worry, we will push the ultimate push with the patch.’ I remember talking to some important tech people, and it’s okay that we were like a lot of patches after that.
The fact is that Vacher 3 was together in the last push as the studio thought about things. “Everyone felt that I think for a few moments that whenever something is going, we will finally be magical fairy that is going to come down and sprinkle some dust, and things will be fine,” says Novakoski. “I am certainly exaggerated, but there is some truth in it. So it is a negative change. Positive change was the confidence that I think helped us to create the ambitions, which I still think about the company.”
The development of cyberpank 2077 showed both the benefits of ambitions, and the risks of more confidence. Even as the studio grew up, Novakoski says, “Many things were almost made in isolated, as weird sounds, so we sometimes did not see its actual effects unless it was in fact a conversation unless it was united.” If the things that are not ready in isolation are not magical, you eliminate the game full of disconnected systems, and aspects that feel that they do not meh along the main Quest Line. Which says, you end with cyberpank 2077.
Novakoski says the Vacher Games were developed in the same way, but as a result of which it was easy to fix these issues. He says, “It was probably never right, but he worked when the sports circle was small. Like Vacher 1 and 2. But I think on Witcher 3, we can hear already that the boat is penetrating a bit.”
After the beginning of Cyberpank 2077, the studio worked to tear down this loneliness. Novakoski says, “I don’t want to raise this voice, this is all the chaos, you know, the basket on the fire, because it will not be true.” “We had a great producer, and it included a lot of plans that made meaningful.” But the CD Project Red process needed to be addressed ultimately, “and this is a major change that took place after cyberpank.”
When you are spending Million 81 million to make a game like Witcher 3, and 320 million dollars on the launch of cyberpank 2077 Version, you will not be able to become more underdug. However, it may be difficult to leave the idea that you are interrupting an industry and works more responsibly. “It was good to have an under-dug,” says PR and Communications VP, Mika Platco-Geloski. “Yes, it’s sexy.”
