According to the developer’s original chief marketing officer, Monica Harrington, there is a world where the dispute with the publisher Sierra has left half a life as the first and last game valve. In an attempt to counter the IP rights of half -life away from Sierra, Herrington threatened that the valve may fully abandon the game’s development.
In a conversation at the Game Developers Conference this week, Harrington spoke to the company’s founder with the valve in most parts of his initial success. The actual half -life, of course, was published by Sierra, before the valve was distributing his game. Herrington says “there were some things about the terms of this deal” that I didn’t know about “until it was sent to it after sending half a life.
