When I first heard of an ugly step sister, I thought, ‘Another horror that is destroying one of my childhood favorite movies and bothering the entire group of Disney adults in this process.’
However, after watching the Nordic movie, I noticed that the ugly step sister is very different from the stories of other fairies that only take a beloved character and cross them. Instead, it is bent about that the fairy tales make the stories strange in the first place.
Since some of Disney’s IPs enter the public domain, once taking magical and itchy creatures and turning them into an ax -powered leather surface, such as Venny the Poh: Blood and Honey has become a tendency. Don’t think me wrong, honey -loving bear already enjoyed cutting adolescent adolescents in the jungle. But by watching films like Mickey Mouse Centrick screams and Bambi: The calculation announced, it makes sense as we are beating a dead horse at this point.

So when the ugly step sister arrived, I wondered what the difference would be about it. But, with my surprise, this movie does exactly what others have failed to do. Instead of destroying dear characters once, it highlights the flaws of the original fairies and brings light on how a difficult and dark life was in this era, which is often glamorous in films.
A different type of fairy tale
Unlike other horror films that jump on this bandwagen, the ugly step sister does not rely on the ‘beloved character goose crazy and all’ kills everyone ‘, in which Pohnavi is bent. Instead of turning steps sisters, or even Cinderella into crazy killers, the film instead of the original fairy trumps, such as the dangers of mismanagement and realistic beauty, and makes Gore a sign.
Emily follows the written and directed, the ugly step sister Elvira (Lee Myron), written and directed by the Blacoffedt, lives in a kingdom where beauty bumps everyone, which is felt when she prepares to participate in a ball to win the prince’s love. However, as a contender, with her beautiful step sister Agniis (alias Cinderella), Elvira will not stop making herself a ball, even if it means to go extremely and malicious.
It is no secret that many classic fairy tales are far more blasphemous than their most well -known dynamic interpretations.
For example, in the story of Snow White’s original 1812, Evil Queen tells the hunter to bring her snack White’s lungs and liver so that she can eat them. Brothers Graeme’s Cinderella contains some disgusting movements, as Cinderella’s pets are running spikes in steps, and this is the version on which Blachefield has chosen to focus. But despite the physical horror fever, despite Disney’s Cinderella, dreamed of substance, the ugly step sister highlighted real -life problems that were encountered at the time of Cinderella being written, and even today.
If the shoe fits
Although the film includes a fair part of fantastic and foreign scenes, such as giant tape bugs and highly plastic surgery, ugly step sister sought what women had to do in the 19th century.
Ever since we meet the main female characters of the film, they have all been in a disappointing race to become more beautiful and desirable than the next, because this is based on their value. Elvira wants to be beautiful so that she can be loved, while Elvira’s mother uses her eyes for financial gain, and Eagnesis needs to be seen so she can get married and avoid her current slavery.
At these times, women had to use their appearance as a bargaining chip, so in a way, the existence of Elvira depends on its shape, as describes the length that is ready to go. Although we, as a woman, have more agencies than that these days, we may still be related to feeling as if some of our value is based on how we are considered. From a young age, we are bombing the pictures that are women. This makes the film more and more relevant and allows us to be related to the main character as an audience, but its decisions may be unreasonable. However, I can’t say that I belong to a large yellow killer bear. Sorry, Pohnavi.
All of all, the ugly stepmother is a terrible and amazing look at a story that we think we all know well, but, after the reflection, even the most joy of fairy has the dark and disturbing roots. Now, I am just waiting for another horror director to remake the Snow White or Repunzil.
