We have not seen a new Friday of the 13th movie since 2009, due to a decades -long legal dispute between the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller and director Shan Kangham on Friday. To further worsen matters, the 2017 Multi -player horror game Friday 13th: The game was included in the legalization and closed seriously at the end of 2024.
Thankfully, the legal battle has ended, and when I will not tolerate you with a lot of details, basically, Miller owns the rights of the original screenplay while Kangham has the rights of Jason Wurge’s famous character because we know them today, because only his child’s appearance was only in 1980.
As the horror gods have, that character is now the blasphemous face of Jason Universe, which was fully revealed in a new video containing Harry Munfini’s music, which consisted of most Friday’s 13th films and the 13th: Game.
It is also the first new official cinema Jason mask to appear since 2009, and the “Machit Metal” logo is new. I would say, I’m not particularly impressed with any of these two things, and I’m anxious about turning a series into a Marvel -style cinema universe as a cheap, sharp Halloween rapo, but my enthusiasm for New Jason is cleansed.
So, what is Jason Universe? Well, according to the production company horror Inc., this is “a new era of the 13th franchise on Friday.” Right now, what we know about this new era is Friday’s 13th Preyl TV series that is on the side of Moore, which has just entered production, but the word “universe” certainly suggests Jason -related movies, TV shows, and potentially filled with sports and comedians.
As far as the film series is concerned, once the development was a sequel to ribot, but because of this it was canceled, you guessed it, a legal drama. It is also worth noting that Kangham himself had teased a “13th” movie in 2022, but since then we have not heard about it.
It seems inevitable that we will find a new film at some point that rights issues have been solved, and today, with the existence of 12 Jason’s 12 films, it seems cruel to deprive us of the 13th Friday’s 13th Friday. Imagine that they will come out alone.
You will not get Jason in the list of our best horror films, but he has a special place in my heart.
