Apple announces that the features of Android are a story about it years after sending Google as it is as old, but whenever this happens, it is no less fun to identify it. This year’s WWDC especially felt the Android Wii-this year’s announcements have not necessarily helped Siri, while Apple has placed its new liquid glass design language front and center.
The imitation is in both ways: Android is launching its own version of iOS directly and adheres to Apple’s lead by adding more customization options to the quick settings tiles. Nevertheless, I could not help look at the new features from Apple’s key note that I have seen anywhere before. It’s not that Apple will never admit to borrowing them.
Help call screening and holding
The screen call date is Android 12, and Pixel phones have presented a version of this feature. In the earlier version you needed to manually request this feature, but on Pixel 7 and even new you can respond automatically and the screen is likely to be spam. Apple version is automatically elected with iOS 26.
Screen call is something I definitely miss when I go to Android to iOS, so as long as it works reasonably well, I think it will be a welcome feature on the iPhone.
Hold Assist is another familiar phone feature. Google version DEBUE ON Pixel phones in 2020 And then the last year began to move to the rest of the ecosystem. This feature works as it will be on iOS 26: Instead of staying on the line and holding the music, you can put your phone down and when a person is ready to talk to you, you get a warning.
It’s very easy! I myself force my problems with the phone -based customer service chat boats to work more recently on the phone, but in rare times when I usually have to keep an irrational time. I’ll take it.
Translation! On the phone app
The recent Samsung phones already offer a direct language translation that is covered in the phone app that looks like Apple has unveiled this week. They provide the recipient of the two caller’s language and vice versa, spoken translation. Do not expect a long, proportional conversation using one of these features, but at least the Samsung version is enough to use the desired use: short, transactional exchange such as preserving a table or hotel room.
In both cases, translations also spread to messaging. The Samsung version will present your messages in the wrong time trying to avoid a very comfortable sound. Can come to work!
Suggesting actions based on what is on your screen
Google has been fully pursuing “using context for levels for surface information” since time – or at least 2012. What is on your screen, with Google Lens search. In the Generative AI era, it has extended Circle Two Search, which tries to use intelligence and uses to identify better identifies that you are looking for. Now, Apple is offering a version of this based on screenshots.
On an Apple intelligence phone, you will see some new options when you take a screenshot. If there is any time and date on the screen, it will suggest a calendar event. You can also make a circle, ER, Feature Something on the screen to search for it.
The Apple version always starts with the screenshot, which is smart. People who are unaware of the new feature will probably find a popup at the place they are already aware of. Unique navigation is required to find Google’s Circle, usually double tapping the handle at the bottom of the screen. Personally, I still train myself to open a new tab and search in Chrome instead of training myself to use this indicator. I suspect I am alone.
Tabing between photo and video recording in the camera app
iOS 26 shook the camera app UI by hiding most of the shooting methods by default, except two: photo and video. The rest appears when you scroll to the left or right, so you can still find your portrait or panorama options. But simple video / image dicotomy calls on pixel phones to keep the toggle in mind between these two options.
In the Pixel Camera app, this is a stand toggle, so it always reaches what mode you are shooting. But I appreciate that both options put this basic functionality in front and center. And hey, if you want to convert your regular picture into panorama, you can always use AI after reality. OK?
