Games Industry.Bs Playstack CEO talks to Harvey Elite to discuss the company’s publication strategy, even if Bollywood has changed the way of doing business, and whether indi publishing is understood to pursue trends in 2025.

Many players now think of playstack as a balloon publisher, though you are getting many constant successes. Has he changed the company? Is there any before and after Baatro for Playstack?
Didn’t really change us so much. For the past nine years, we have been more endorsement of everything.
We have a reality – as you have identified properly – enough sports that have done a good job for us. Baatro has been a changer for playstack, but it has also been a changer for the industry.
I think it is really shown again, () when they come into the tremendous, very fascinating game market, it doesn’t matter if it is made by a person or a hundred people.
They can reach the audience in new ways. This is what we have come out to make, and the kind of game we are going to find with the playstack.
What has changed for us is that He has given us a little confidence – or a little more confident. Get the reinforcement of the kind of sports we seek and the strategy we have set.
To change the point of view a little: We are less worried about whether we are doing the right thing or not. We see (they) we are doing the right thing, we see that we can publish sports properly. What we do not want to get is satisfied, (and) we do not want to change who we are.
“Now we just do big games, we just do games that are going to sell multi, multi -million dollars.” This is a supplementary product-we would like to sell millions of copies of all our sports, but what we really want to do is to find a wonderful game from the magnificent indie developers and give them their best ability and their best life.
What is this about your business procedure that you think still separates you from other publishers?
I think we are very personal in the way we work with people. And that does not mean ’boutique’ or small, it means that when we choose a game we are going back, we are very diligent about what we are choosing to work with.
We want to ensure that we will increase the game and give it the best life, give it the best capacity, reach the best audience with it.
And we want to go deep with the game. We really want to work closely with the developer to revive their vision, and make sure all the things that make their game special and extraordinary are the things we can bring in the market.
But, too, if we think that the market is going to resist some of the things they are, let’s get them a good heads head initially that there are challenges.
(Since) we do not publish 20 or 30 games simultaneously, we have time to go into details with every developer we work with, and I think it will always be a huge part of our tasks.

It seems that Baatro’s resulting pressure for the patholated deck builders. Do you think that in 2025 works to pursue trends as a strategy for Indi Publishers?
Obviously, trends give people ideas in an area. If you are just taking a game that is there and making an alternative version of it, you are not adding anything. You are not making the place or sector or gender bigger.
We see games that are adding to a category, but repetitions within it, and bring new things. There is definitely scope for more patholastic deck builders in the world, but I will not just find something we will find.
We signed two games (last) week – none of them is a Rogeliak deck builder. So, there are many great sports in this place.
When there is a success, of course, (a) follow: “We have to chase this opportunity.” But many people will start chasing it, and they are not moving forward unless they are actually doing modern work. They are going to be all set of things already existing.
Playstack publishes games in different species through design – you don’t have one or two features. What is the combination of your different sports?
The great game that we are excited about. I talk here for a lot of game players: we don’t play a genre of game, or just don’t watch a genre of TV, a genre of the movie … we have a wide and diverse taste.
Playstack is deliberately about great sports – so if the game is great, enjoyable and fun, and we have found someone in the team that is excited about it, and we can do the job for whom the game will be, and how we can reach them, it doesn’t matter.
There are publishers who probably focus on the right, specific, very technical varieties, and they focus on areas where they can develop real skills.
From our point of view, we believe that we are the best publishers for all the games we have signed, and all the games we offer.
When I started the playstack, we had two principles, which were ‘no extreme horror’ and ‘no American football’. The most terrifying extent is that my children were really young, but it’s a matter of nine years ago, and they are old now, and they see more terrifying things than me, so the horror is on the table.
But no one has entered the US football yet, so we are not doing it.
Can you talk about expanding the success of Baltro after the release? How long do you see the tail of this game?
There are many games that break down, which are unusually well, and Balatro is clearly one of them. We can see a beautiful interesting future for this game, but we have not been trying to make a map of the game life for the next ten years. This is not what we want to focus on.
We want to make the best decisions for the game for this year, for the next year, make sure it’s reaching the right players, it’s a huge and delightful experience. But we have to deliberately respect it: The game works because of its design.
At some point there will be a refreshment that adds to the game, but we do not want to hurry, we do not want it to be closed in a date. We want it to be a really good update. It does not automatically mean big or big. It needs to be a really big way to move it forward.
But it would be wrong for us to say, ‘It seems like the game in the next five years’.
As a publisher, our job is to ensure that it reaches more and more players, and that every version of the game that comes out – (as) we have brought it to the mobile from PC – it feels like it was made for this platform.
The game has got a good tail. It will continue well – we have now had to shed her carefully.

Does game success like Bollywood or Abyotak Factor put a lot of pressure on your discovery team to find the next hit? Has their success changed the type of games you are able to sign?
The latter, yes, the former, not. Therefore, (The Discovery Team, of course, they will have to find the next above, but if they find the next Golden Idol case, or the next Abyatic element, we too are happy. They are the games we should find.
What we see is, in the category we think they are working, what is the ability to do? What is the roof? Of all the games we published, I think we have the only game that has not made, or yet (around) 20 titles, the development team is not returning royalty.
The Discovery Team’s job is to find a great game. They have to think about which sports playstack can make the difference, so we are working with a developer, and we are increasing market size and sports ability because we are involved.
I can guarantee you that He has not changed what we try and not sign, because I know that the two games we have signed on the last week, and they are true of the playstack.
Has the pipeline changed as a result of your recent achievements?
The thing we’re really seeing is how we use our time and skills for the best effect, and if that means we are playing two this year and they will prove to be extraordinary, we will play two games this year. But, more likely, our numbers are between six and eight, and I think that will be within such a limit in the next few years.
This was always the case before Baatro. I think we are doing a little differently, we have now signed up almost everything for 2026.
We may be fitting in another game, but I know how we are planning for 2026, and we’re looking at 2027. And likewise, Baitro has helped to expand our horizon, because we have attracted these games that mean that probably a little earlier before, which means that 2026 are now kept together.
We try and are just a little capable, if we see a game that goes to us, ‘oh my goodness, a game we should do’. And (then) we guess how to do so.
What do you think is the new release and your catalog case on Switch 2?
I really like the platform. This is not a revolutionary sports console – this is really a good repetition, and I think that our catalog for the platform will be something really good. We are probably not going to chase the platform costs, a game that only works on switch 2. Certainly we have a variety of platform suits.
We have many materials that are PC and PC Central. But I think it’s still an interesting platform that we should do a little more to make sure we repeat the games that are in accordance with the platform.
Therefore, we will surely support Switch Switch 2. We are going to do the right thing with our sports on the platform, and we are excited about it.
It’s three weeks away. Once we see it and play it in detail, I am sure that it will give birth to our imagination. This is not a revolutionary hardware, and it will not change the game of sports – this is another good way to increase experiences.
