Switch 2 Nintendo Platforms a stage for third -party support. It will be second, forecasting the company’s two former marketing leads.
Nintendo -shaped pod cast cut and christaHosting former Nintendo employees for over 10 years, Kit Ellis and Crista Yang recently published an event that tells them why they have “fully hopeful” about Switch 2 and, in particular, have the possibility of supporting its third party. The pair was near the Nintendo’s struggle to attract third -party publishers after the Wii U’s trade failure, and they break their enthusiasm in two key points to support Switch 2’s third party. The first is that “Switch 2 is a new system, but it is proven.”
“People understand what the hybrid system is,” says Ellis. “This is the rise of steam deck and steam deck ash devices. We have found a PlayStation portal. People are really comfortable with the idea, ‘Yes, this is the thing that can play a game on TV but can be played handheld.” This is not an obstacle to the end of people.
Another important reason Alice and Yang believe that Switch 2 will be an attractive possibility for third -party publishers that Nintendo must have rescued itself after being flopped by the OG switch, which is now one of the most sold -selling game consoles at all times.
“Transfer from Wii U to Switch 1, Nintendo, was very tough by the third party,” says Yang. “He was coming from a console that was not very clear, successful and failure, and at that time it was really difficult to get a third party support on the Nintendo platform. We were there, we saw it.”
Although I will always defend the Wii U from a hardware point of view, I will also freely recognize that there is no more rid of the transfer from Nintendo’s Wii U to the original switch, which has recently cleared 150 million units of Wii U compared to 13.5 million life sales. Alice and Yang do not clearly mention sales here, but they are certainly indicating that the success of the switch and third -party sales on the platform has paved the way for switch 2.
“Now the third party has not proved to be yourself,” said Yang. You have proved yourself. ” “So now they are in a very different place where many of these third -party developers are truly claiming to be part of the Nintendo platform, to access this large -scale Nintendo audience … this is a really interesting time to support third -party support on the switch.”
Alice also added that it was not just a switch console selling, which gave third party publishers more confidence in the platform’s first party release. It was also a different victory towards the software that made the well -worn the story “wrong” that Nintendo players only care about Nintendo Games.
“There are many excellent proof points that go from big AAA sports (Indies and third -party games) to Monster Hunter Rise for Cape work, it was a huge seller who was special,” says Elise. “The version of the hog Warts Legacy … that version was very famous and was well sold. We still don’t know much about Switch 2’s software lineup, currently the only certified game that has a new Mario Cart title. We have seen a reliable report in which a long -awaited remistrator is part of the third -party plans for the Metal Gear solid Delta and a handful of Ubesoft Games, such as Hassan’s third -party plans, but has not been confirmed.
