Latest Proposal Will “Leave Our Members Vulnerable To AI Abuse” Says SAG-AFTRA Strike Negotiator

Abstract

  • The latest proposal will continue to strike SAG-Aftra due to flaws.

  • The proposal does not include considerable security measures against AI.

  • Based on this suggestion, producers can use past performances for AI training without proper compensation.

The SAG-Aftra strike is to continue as the latest proposal was apparently full of shortcomings on the use of AI. Video game companies have been on fire for the past few months in connection with the use of AI artwork, sounds, or other development processes. However, the studios seems to be doubled on it, as Sony’s Eli Tech Demo has clarified.

It seems that the two parties are nowhere near to an agreement, as the message sent to all members by the negotiator Duncan Curbs, Ireland and the chair of the Interactive Media Talks Committee, has revealed that the strike will continue.

SAG-AFTRA strike will continue

“Although we have made progress on some provisions since launching our strike last year, and the agreements have reached, the last proposal by the bargaining group is still filled with worrying flaws, which will put our members in danger of abusing AI.” Urugmer,

“The Union recently presented a counter of the proposal that has fully resolved all the flaws and will result in a contract that will provide minimal reservations for our members to maintain a sustainable career as video game actors.

Sound actors are rightly accused of selling their alliance

“You will be convinced that the bargaining group is nearing reaching an agreement. This is not the case. They are also hoping that our members will change each other.”

It seems that video game producers want to be able to use all the actors’ past performances and out of the contract, which results in their voices used for AI training, and eventually used in future projects for which they are not paid.

Apparently an interim contract has been developed by SAG-Aftra and has been signed by more than 160 video game producers. It has been claimed that the revenue of the signatories is higher than those who did not do.

The message said, “These contracts include the reservations for which we are asking the bargaining group – the terms that are clearly possible and acceptable to a number of game companies of all sizes, even the bargaining companies resist.”
