Nintendo says your old Switch HDMI cable “isn’t compatible” with the Switch 2, but I’d argue that’s not strictly true or helpful

Soon, the Nintendo Switch will officially arrive on 2 TV benches to replace the OG system. Whether you deal with your setup or the parents have dominated the residential room, you have no doubt that the console will have to do a bit again to ensure its real visual ability. To help it, Nintendo offers access to accessories consistency, which covers HDMI cable support, but its guidance is not completely accurate.

Nentity’s “Switch and Nintendo Switch ends on 2 devices” PageThe company says the old console HDMI cable is “not compatible” with the new gaming handheld. Although there is a left -handed box that aims to clarify things, instead of additional information, you should only use the wire that comes with the sophisticated system to “maximize performance”.

The reason I am all hot and upset with this advice is that the old cable will still actually work with switch 2. Therefore, it is not strictly compatible, but since it is proud of its old HDMI 1.4 specifications, it will be used with warnings. Namely, the dock will only be able to output 4K 30 HHz Max, while modern 2.0 and 2.1 standards can kill 4K 60HZ and more. In direct words, you may find things a little smaller on the UHD display using the old cable as the handheld will only run in dock mode in 30 frames per second.

So, why is any of these matters? Well, forgive me for being a fool, but I’m already photographing a scenario where some players or their unaware parents hang out in a new dock hanging from their gaming TV from their gaming TV, for convenience, it is technically doing it technically. Nintendo’s current advice does not indicate that doing so would mean not to take advantage of the higher frame rate and instead suggest that it will not work at all.
