The C -button of Nintendo Switch 2 was late, which had a new interview that said it was added after a “very last minute request”.
The mysterious C button of Nintendo Switch 2 Joey 2 gave rise to a debate before the switch 2 Nintendo Direct, where it was revealed to be a dedicated button for the console’s dysfunction -like game chat. In a series of developer Interview While diving on various aspects of the creation of switch 2 on the Nintendo website, Nintendo’s entertainment plan and a member of the Development Department, Somikazo Ono, said the C button has come as a result that the game chat feature is easy to use.
He said he believes to stop the game and go to the home screen, find the right menu, make a chat room, and then return to the game (as it basically does every other modern video game console) “was disturbing.” This resulted in the idea of the C button.
“So we asked to add a special button while the hardware design continues,” said Ono. “It was a very last minute request, before the controller was to make molds.”
Ono said he understands that the use of game chat, as well as the fact that the switch comes with the built -in microphone, will result in more players trying to chat for the first time.
“We knew that if many players were not easy to understand, we would eventually stop using this feature, so we worked hard to make sure that it could be easily used to play with friends and family without turmoil.”
In the interview, Ono described the game chat as one of the “specified features” of Switch 2, and that its origin came from trying to catch the vibes of the “Student Lounge” where people can not only submit to play games but also execute.
“So far, the online game for Nintendo Games means that everyone is together to play the same game,” said Ono. “But more than anything, we wanted to create a place where people naturally gathered, whether they were playing the same game together, or different games, or just to watch.”
Nintendo online subscriptions will be needed to use the game chat technically, but nine months after the release of switch 2 in June 2025, free access can be accessed by March 2026.
In the previous developer interview, Nintendo said that the magnetic Joey 2 of Switch 2 was actually an idea for the first switch, but after meeting with Nintendo’s late President Saturo Avata, the idea was saved where he voted on prototype.
The Nintendo Switch will launch for 5 450 on June 5, including the Switch 2 bundle with the Mario Cart World, directly on April 9. Nintendo announced several new first -party games, especially 2 versions of sports like Donkey Kong Bonaza and the Legend of Zelda, especially in 2: Tear of Kingdom.
