PSA: Potential Issues with the Sony X900H/X9000H/XH90/X90CH and Next Gen Gaming Sony – Tech

Just wanted to be aware of some potential issues with this TV. I personally recommend to stop buying this TV unless you are well in these agreements.

1. When the 120 hertz signal is fed up

As you can see from the following links, currently TV has problems with 120 HHTs signals. Sony’s official response to it (in the HDTVTESTEST video below) is not the least encouraging and it seems that this is a feature and not a bug. I think it also happens at 1080p120Hz, so it does not appear to be a Bandooth problem like Sony’s claim.

I see that you have tested 4K 120Hz, please test 4k 120Hz with a desktop in Windows 10 instead of 100 %. It seems that it has been broken and I have seen that review sites are missing because of its lack. What is your impression?

There is a request on this issue, so please sign it without hesitation, but if anything gets it, I will be surprised. https://www.change.org/p/sony-make-sony-fix-bLURDER-120hz-image-n-thir-ps5-s5-deady-x900h-x90ch

Amendment: On November 14, 2020, Sony’s official statement recognizes the issue and says it will be fixed. To today, it has not happened:

2.

Currently the TV Adid Limits mean that you are forced to choose between dolby vision or 4k120Hz. Unfortunately, this can cause problems for Xbox Series X consumers who have to play the game with Dolby Vision Inbed (which is expected to come in 2021) at 4K120Hz. It also means that if you are planning to use your series X to use dolby vision media (such as Netflix, Amazon prime video, etc.), in addition to 4k120Hz gaming, you have to change between 2 “better shape” options depending on your use.

The “enhanced format” option enables 4k120Hz but disables dolby vision.

The “enlarged format (dolby vision)” enables the option dolby vision but limits you to 4k60Hz.

This is in detail in HDTVTEST videos below:

This is probably not a big problem because regular HDR10 is still available in “better shape”, but keep in mind that other TVs such as 2019/2020 LG OLEDs are capable of 4K120Hz and dolby vision simultaneously.

3. Auto Low Littanic Mode and Various Refresh Rate

These HDMI 2.1 features will only enable future software updates. It remains to be seen whether Sony will do something good in implementing them.

Update 30 September 2021: Firmware enables V6.1288 VRR and Allm with some warnings. The image mode is closed in the game and some settings cannot be changed. In addition, it also shows that the local dimming is inactive when the VRR is selected.
