Last year’s race: The official WTC Game was received by the fans of this genre with clear doubts. SIM racers criticized the game for easy physics, lack of mood support and raw multi -player. Generally, it was clear that the project was done in a hurry – apparently, they wanted to make it over time in the season’s autumn final. Nevertheless, releasing a clearly weak game based on the GTR2, a proven engine and content, is not an easy task. Then we finished the race review with a warning: Next time such a trick will not work, especially when it comes to Simbon – they expect them a lot.

It seems that Simbon has temporarily put the GT theme aside and focuses on the licensed simulators of the World Touring Car Championships, and they work regularly. And it, clearly, is not bad: WTCC is more popular with viewers than viewers, and the annual release of a quality game is a good way to expand the foundation of fans. True, there is a negative aspect. Something like a sporting version of EA sports. However, Race 07: The Official WTC Game is a little away from this formula. Apart from the cars decorated for the 2007 season, there is something that can be interested in the backdrop.

Some words about the main star of the game – WTC. When you are reading these lines, the 2007 season has already expired. But at the time of the game’s release, there were two steps left by the end, and there was very little conspiracy: the factory BMW 320 dominated the track, and Andy Prollex was leading to his third championship title with confidence. The main problem with the WTCC is that the championship lacks fresh blood. In 2007, only four brands are fully participating: BMW, Set (Volkswagen is actively developing the Sporty image of its Spanish subsidiary), Chevrolet and Alpha Romeo. The latter, anyway, only represent the private team’s Anne Technology, which is two away from the new 156 models. The Italian factory return, if so, will not happen before next year. And this is somehow for a series that claims global status.

And the WTCC geography is more European than the global. But we should give credit to the organizers: There is still a pleasant surprise in the 2007 calendar. For example, it appeared by two new city tracks – in French Paul (where races have been held since the beginning of the last century!) And Portuguese Porto. Tight roads are ideal for the most powerful two liters of cars, though sometimes they get a bit tight there. In all respects, the horrific limits of Mexican Pobella were taken by Dutch Zandoort, and modern but boring autoDrom in Istanbul gave way to Swedish Andstrion. The final, as usual, occurs in Macau – on the legendary city track, the most difficult and difficulty in the world of motorports (and not, it is not Monaco).

Race 07: Only more than WTCC

If the race 07 was limited to the 2007 WTC Championship, keeping it lightly, boring. But the developers decided not to stop there – and they did the right thing. In addition to the new season, the game also includes last year’s tournament, which is familiar with the first: private teams on hinds and pigs have returned with full force.

But this is not the most interesting thing. Simbon suddenly went beyond the usual touring race and at the same time added several new cars classes to the game. Caterham Ed on -the -known people have already operated Fortela Rodster, and now other goods have appeared on the menu:

• Formula 3000 – Fast, powerful cars that require experience and skills.
• Formula BMW – Light weight training cars with motorcycle engines.
• Radical – Lightweight sports prototypes for people who love control and enthusiasm.
• WTCC 1987 -Classic with old school passion and thunderstorm engines.
• Money Cooper Cup – The character and anger.

Of course, it is far from the “300 cars” described on the box (finally, developers, routine, counting staff, not cars), but there are many types. And the car filter feature allows you to race completely different cars in a race. Imagine: Mani Cooper vs. F3000. The winner is not difficult to guess, but it’s fun – this is the most important thing.

In all new products, the formula deserves 3000 special attention – these are the fastest and worst cars of the game. At one time, the future formula 1 stars run on such cars (with Lola Chassis and 500 horsepower Ford engines), paving the way for the elite. Although modern F3000 International Masters are not the same legendary series of the 90s, the spirit remains. Simbon needed to work very little: implement these championships with ability and, wherever possible, patch old gymnasiums. Generally, they fought the task – but not without flaws. New tracks are especially amazing. For example, Zandwort: The track is excellent, technical and visually – as F1 has been telephoned since 2002 times. And it, keeping it lightly, has no definition. Unfortunately, from the car model to texture – the visualization appears everywhere. Particularly the physical functioning of the cars is particularly suffering: the poor, in detail and poorly with mud texture. And the final touch at this graphic retro festival is a strange gray filter, which gives the picture a shadow of the morning coffee. Non -dependent

Ironically, other games on the same engine (such as the GTR 2 or BMWM 3 Challenge) look significantly better. But hopefully: In the depths of the studio, a new engine called Chaudkali is already being developed. Screenshots affect hopefulness – if Simbon doesn’t change their mind, everything can be fine.

Of course beauty is important, but the racing game should be the first and most important – and the race here keeps the work 07 good work. Every car feels different, the behavior also varies between the front and the back wheel drive – so clearly it is almost intuitively felt. Realism is pleasant. With formula cars, everything is even more interesting: “Formula BMW” is easy and forgiving, but F3000 is an animal that requires strong hand. This is not for anything that its actual racer in the game was tested by Alex Danielson. The only thing to make fun of open cars is the so -called “helmet view”. The thing is beautifully imagined, but in practice it is a barrier. It limits the vision, encountered the review. It can be safely nominated for the most useless innovation of the year.
