Well, we get it. You are all excited about the slate. We thought the small slate truck was cool, but so far, based on the number of clicks and comments on our slate auto articles, you would like to know more. Many of you wrote with questions and more than some people raised some doubts.
So, we wanted to solve most of them. Based on your questions, Slate Answers are your one stop shop here-plus some of our own.
What are the full sunglasses of the slate, and how does it compare with Ford Maurock or F-150?
This slate is clearly a vehicle that is made for everyday utility, and while it will make a simple machine to prevent a lot of things, but a large vehicle and heavy cargo were not clearly a top priority. Here are the key sugars, compared to the Four Wheel Drive Hybrid Ford Maurock with 2.5 liters of engine and a Ford F-150 4×2 with 2.7 liters of Eco-Boost V6.
Slate truck | Ford more | Ford F -150 | |
Horse Power (HP) | 201 | 191 | 325 |
Weight (lbs) | 3,602 | 3,674 | 4,171 |
Maximum pay load (LBS) | 1,433 | 1,500 | 1,775 |
Max to Tanging (LBS) | 1,000 | 2,000 | 8,400 |
The length of the bed (fit) | 5 | 4.5 | 5.5, 6.5, or 8 |
Bed’s width (max / min, i) | 50 / 54.9 | 42.6 / 53.3 | 50.6 / 66.9 |
Seats | 2 | 5 | 5 |
It is worth noting that these Ford numbers vary widely on the basis of sequence. For example, you can get a “4K-to-package” on the fierce, which leads to £ 4,000, and there are hundreds of variations as needed for the F-150. The maximum Tweing on the F -150 is 13,500 pounds. The aforementioned number represents the data copied for the base, option -free vehicle through Ford.
And a final note: Due to the weight of the trailer and its additional aerodynamic drag, the Tinging Two reduces the vehicle’s performance substantially. The slate of an electric vehicle, such as the slate, will certainly result in a low limit, depending on the trailer.
Where will the vehicle be manufactured?
The Slate has confirmed that the manufacturing will be in a former category of category printing in Warsaw, Indiana, which was closed in 2023. Slate is expected to renovate this facility and eventually 2,000 workers are expected to get a job, with the annual production volume with 150,000 vehicles. And the company is Finding tax reduction on factory site To start construction with the County Government. Full details on it here.
This domestic output should mean that the slate -manufactured vehicles are eligible for the federal waiver of 7,500 – if the credit is still available at the end of next year when the truck’s production is entered.
Does the Slate Truck have a cellular connection?
No, the slate truck does not have built -in cellular contacts. LTE is a fast common feature in new cars, which enables auto manufacturers to do all kinds of things, including good things like software updates, and some may not be good things like selling your driving data.
For the past, the updates of the O-Air will still be possible through the Slate Smartphone app. Updates will be downloaded over the phone and then pushed to the slate truck via USB cable. As far as the latter is concerned, which leads us to our next question.
Will slate harvesting and my driving data sell?
No driving data, not, but you can upload data about your car’s health. Jeff Jabbalanski, head of Slate Auto’s Public Relations and Communications, gave us this example:
“A ‘check engine’ light comes: If the driver has plugged his phone and selected the data movement, the company will send a notification to the Slate app to be aware of the requirements of the potential services.”
Jabansky confirmed that no data would be sold to the third party.
Can I bet my slate truck in advance?
One of the happiness of being the owner of a modern EV is an easy prerequisite. Regardless of where your car is parked, you can warm or cool the interior with only a few taps on your smartphone, worrying about filling your garage with no carbon monoxide.
Can you do this in a slate truck? May be. Lack of cellular connection means that you will not be able to connect wireless from your truck from anywhere, but Jablinski did not completely deny it, “This is the thing we are working through.”
Will Slate 3D make the model available to design the printed accessories?
Are ready to download some STL/3MF files today and start designing your final cup holder? We too, but we will need to be patient. Jabblanki says, “Slate to make the maker community is incredibly important, and we are on the way to deliver this commitment near the launch.”
So stay on this front. Jabinski says it will also include details about third -party accessories and licensing.
Why didn’t the Slate used the standard DIN slot to ease the audio?
Dan Slot, which is also called ISO 7736 Or the Deutsche Institute Furour Norming 75490 slot, has long been the standard of these dash audio. Then, why, there are no dean slots on the slate truck? Slate says it was more flexible. “We wanted to allow and choose our accessories without a combination of options in the packages together,” says Gibrinski. It comes into life in our audio strategy to choose users to install anything in any kind of audio system from Bluetooth speaker. “
So the bad news is that if you want to use a standard DIN recipient, you will need to DIY a wall for it. The good news is that if you just want to mount the Bluetooth sound bar, you will not need to worry about filling the rectangular holes related to any place in the dashboard.
Do the tasks have a more modern active driver’s relief system?
No. “According to our broader perspective, we focused on our engineering to make a great truck to drive the slate.”
Put these hands on the wheel, people.
Why choose a truck to start instead of Sidan or Compact SUV?
Cost and simplicity, it came out. Jabinsky says “two doors -shaped factor means low material, less complication, low cost.” He added that Lockable Frank means that your luggage has a safe storage like Sidan, which has the extra advantage of a large bed. And, of course, if you need more sitting or more covered storage, you can add to the SUV kit.
Will any DIY upgrade and a special tools need for adventure?
The need for special tools per jabblansky is not expected.
Will this thing really be sold at 000 20,000? What about taxes? What if the EV privileges are over?
It is still a dynamic world and dynamic industry, but slate back is not getting. “We are committed to the expected price of 000 20,000, after federal privileges,” says Jabblanki, which means $ 27,500 MSRP. “If the privileges are gone, the slate will be well positioned in the United States with a strong suggestion of value, safety and customization.”
Will those attributes be enough to keep people away from Ford Maurock, which will only start, 000 28,000? We have to wait.
Jabinsky says the slate is also committed to US manufacturing, which should mostly prevent tariff fears, and that the company is still on the way to starting manufacturing in 2026.
