Sony Is Attempting To Preserve All 30 Years Of PlayStation History

Abstract

  • Sony, through its PlayStation brand, has been trying to preserve more than three decades of gaming history.

  • More than 200 million files are being transmitted to data tapes, then placed in the manufactures for long -term protection.

  • Some files are up to 1994, in which the PlayStation 5 content is permanently added.

Since the big world of gaming is continuing more towards a digital future, sports protection becomes rapidly important. This importance increases tenfold when you are likely to make a list of sports, as was the case with staff last year. So much so that the Ubesoft started working on offline methods for staff 2 and motor fests after severe reactions.

As long as all our physical disk games are rotting

A defect in the Warner Bruce DVD has illuminated the condition called the Disk Route, and it will eventually give all our classic games.

This apparently has not been lost on Sony and her PlayStation brand. As it turns out, Sony is currently trying to create a large -scale protection vault where more than 30 years of history can live safely for generations to come.

More than 200 million files are being saved

In a new story that has been shared online by Games RadarIt has been revealed that the Sony PlayStation Studios is working on the Walt, which is an operation that protects more than 200 million files on data tapes that do not even have access to high executives.

Senior Blood Engineer Engineer Garrett Fredley said during the GDC talk, “We have a solution to bring all rich, 30 -year history of the PlayStation Studios Walt Play Station to a place.” “Not only backups, not only the source code and the source art, but everything that was related to the project that we can potentially find from documents to audio assets and prototype information, anything below the sun.”

In other words, not only is the game worth the game being saved, but it is all associated with it. These assets are being uploaded to “Staging Walts”, which are focused in Las Vegas and Liverpool. There, SSD developers allow the files to be uploaded quickly where they are then transferred to the real PlayStation Studios vault, which is the “cold storage” method that puts things on data tapes.

Fredley said, “All 30 years of history live in our tape backup.

This is not the end of it, however, these data tapes are then put into a real manuscript. “This is not a joke,” he said. “They go somewhere in a manuscript, so you can imagine how long it takes to bring them back.”

Only a handful of people have access to this manuscript, including the protection team and its members. Devs or executives who want access to any content should go through these parties.

All this reads like a science -fi novel, but it is a real life thing that is being worked on by Sony, which apparently hopes it will maintain its series forever. As it stands, the oldest piece of the Archode Material is the 1994 Arc Di Lad Blood, which is constantly included in the title of every current and future PS5. Talk about beautiful clean.
