Superman is officially on the rise. In July, a large -scale film headed in theaters and publisher DC announced 2025 as ‘Summer of Superman’, with a general excitement about the man of steel building. I have noticed it – my Superman Book Shelf has increased significantly in the past few months, and some new Superman Action Statistics have begun to grace on my collection – and I have seen it in a wide range of fans’ community, even entering the mainstream.
But what is it that has pushed the world’s most famous Western superhero to the film hype in such a big way, in such a big way? There is something special about Superman that separates him from other superheroes, which makes him the best hero for the present moment over time.
Author Mark Ved Superman knows exactly the same way, which has written to Man of Steel several times over the decades, which includes Superman’s origin and Superman: Birthday Wright, as well as the current Batman/Superman: The Best Title of the World, and the ongoing Justice League unlimited series. And to him, it is not a matter of why Superman is the greatest hero of 2025.
“I think with all the turmoil, I think there is a feeling of being frightened, which is an important thing for every moment of our lives, even if we realize it.” “And Superman is always a symbol of hope. Superman is always a sign that we can do what we can do if we pull together, what can we do if we sympathize. If we can make compassion rather than a weakness, and I think it talks to a lot of people right now.”
In fact, Superman’s idea that comes with this power as a symbol of power and kindness also speaks to me as a reader and a fan. It is often said that Superman’s basic fantasy is believed that a person with such a great power uses it for selfless good, and this is something that is more true now.
This is also not a new invention. Superman launched his adventures by fighting corrupt executives, union busters, brutal slums and other enemies of the joint folk. This is the basic popularity that has quickly become a symbol of universal goodness, only for those who will harm others. And in the past years, its famous S. Shield has been explained as a specific symbol of hope at his Homorildren of Crafton.
“There is a hope with Superman that translates to the comedy page to be able to make it impossible.” “The first time we ever saw Superman, he was raising a car on his head, which was quite a look in 1938. At that time, there was no such content of science fiction in pop culture.”
“It was created by two teenage boys to do the impossible work outside the Cleveland, and this is one of my guided stars,” the Veda continued. “When I write Superman, in every story, I really want to see something that seems impossible and still succeeds in pulling it. This, to me, what is its purpose. And this is one of the things that makes it unique.”
We can all definitely use a bit of impossible right now, and even a little superman.
Superman will target cinemas on July 11. In the meantime, check our guide for all upcoming DC films and shows for everything the DCU.
