A few weeks ago, Apple issued a more affordable tech on its flagship handset with the iPhone 16E. But now Google is retreating with Pixel 9A and what I have seen, it looks like a better way.
From the front, 9A looks like a very standard pixel 9. Its screen is the same size 6.3 inches, while 120 Hz also offers refresh rate and amazingly strong 2,700 nets peak brightness. From the inside, 9A a tensor packed G4 chip, as you go to its more expensive siblings, as well as other easy features, including the rating of IP68 for dust and water resistance and Google’s standard seven years OS updates, feature drops and security patches.
But Google gave some surprise by giving 9A 5,100mah battery, which is the largest power pack technically in any member of the Pixel 9 family. This includes Pixel 9 Pro XL (5,060mah), though only a small. Regardless, Google says it sells the best longevity of any pixel today.
If you turn the phone around, there are also some other changes such as a new Irris purple color, which is included in the current pony, porcelain and Osidian color options. But what jumps the most jump is a camera bar, which is practically on all Google phones that match Pixel 6. Instead, you find a simple window that sits close against the back of the device.

Unfortunately, you don’t get a dedicated optical zoom (though it supports 8x digital supersts zoom). Here is a 48MP main sensor that is similar, but the Pixel 9 is slightly different from those used on the pro folds and has a 13MP sensor for its extremely wide camera. 9A also includes built -in AI macro -focus feature so you can get closer to things, tin pixel -related camera tools such as Aid, Best Tech, Magic Editor and more.
Specifically, because it is powered by Tancer G4, 9A has access to all AI features available on the remaining Pixel 9 line. These include Gemini direct video, Pixel Recorder app, and Pixel Studios that do not mention Google VPN, car crash detection and similar security and safety offers. Sadly, I just spent a short time with the phone so we were not able to test many of its new features.
Google seems to be feeling confident about this phone, the company has said it will have the best cameras on any handset less than $ 500. This is a huge claim, but it is not completely uncomfortable because Google’s camera processing has long been advanced. And with the initial price of $ 499, Pixel 9A is skating to the bottom right of this line.
So what’s the catch – all of this regular Pixel for less than $ 300? The biggest difference between the standard pixel 9 and 9A that I have seen so far is that Google has not improved the latter’s 23 watts wired or 7.5 watts wireless charging speed, both are rather slower than a full -price flagship. You also get less RAM, with 9A features 8GB instead of 12 GB. And while in 9A, the Gorilla Glass plays its screen, a plastic panel around the rear is manufactured from about 85 85 % of recycled materials. But once again, the standard model of less than three benchs, they are compromised that I am mostly ready with it.
Google Pixel will start at $ 499 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage at 9A (256GB model is an optional upgrade). The purchases include free three -month subscriptions for Google One and YouTube premiums, as well as a six -month trial for Fit Bit Premium.
