As part of our mission to affect the next generation of scientists, the inventor and engineers Science Museum Group has launched a new online game, a total darkness.
During the last year we have been developing Tomorrow darkness With the goal of creating an experience that can have a positive impact on people’s attitudes about STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), as well as focusing on self -reflection rather than asking players to remember specific facts or concepts.
Tomorrow darkness Shaped and informed by research Science Capital And the Science Museum Group’s approach to learning informal science. It is a digital storyteran’s experience that encourages young people to recognize how they use the skills every day belonging to the stem and can help them increase their confidence in science thinking.
Is formed in partnership with the Bristol -based design agency Thought DanThe game invites the player to solve mysterious power cuts in his hometown. The game controls the players, and allows their choices and decisions to guide them through the story.
When the player wanders in the dark streets of the town, just equipped with the torch, they will face different challenges, ranging from losing pets to melting ice cream. Using their curiosity, communication skills and solving the creative problem, they will discover new ideas about what can be caused by blackout.
But with each step, their torch ends, and the player will have to solve the mystery before the battery is over. There are five ideas to solve the power outage and to win the game and prove it wrong.
Throughout the game, the player’s choice and actions will score them in curiosity, creativity or communication locations. Finally, the skills that the player has used will be revealed along with the style of science, which shows how they can put into practice their abilities in the real world.
