“We don’t want to force one terabyte of data on the players”: Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ tech director on the clever tricks Ubisoft uses to “go beyond” current-gen

I am sitting in the Ubesoft Quebec to talk to the brand and pipeline technology director Perry Forten, to discuss the shadow of Hassan’s profession. Still, that’s just difficult to do. A part of the Anvil team, the inner house engine that strengthens the series and has seen many over halls, Forten works in the context of the earlier sports-but even then, with a permanent mind to the coming things, predicting that the team will be really needed before it is in fact.

“My role is primarily advising other directors,” Forten tells me. “In the early days of pregnancy, we look at the future in terms of tech. We suggest what we think we should do, we should take advantage of new technologies. Then, I work with engine teams to ensure that we have a handful of features – in the direction of our hands.”
