Feeling a bit of punishment and sadness on the current state of Xbox Hardware? This year it may change, as the Xbox is allegedly producing a PC gaming handheld with an unknown OEM (original equipment manufacturer).
Windows Central According to these reports, the handheld, named as ‘Project Canon’, has to arrive at some point in 2025. According to sources, the partner device will be seen with the usual Xbox Branding, iconic green highlights, and this important Xbox guide button. Therefore, when it appears that the ‘Xbox Series X Handheld’ or Manteorized Home Xbox Console for Portable Play will not have the Xbox Device styling.
It is unclear what partnership with OEM Microsoft for the development of the alleged gaming handheld device. Possibly candidates may be MSI, Lenovo, or Asos – all of them have achieved handheld success with devices like Lenovo Lashkar Goo and Asos Rogue Eli.
The handheld will be mostly based on PC gaming, such as the aforementioned devices as well as a steam deck. It will potentially be powered by Windows 11 and will offer assistance for launchers, including the game pass and steam. Naturally, such a handheld Xbox would also be a great fit for cloud gaming.
It should not be surprising that the Xbox itself is entering the gaming handheld space. Such devices have proved to be a major success as a whole, offering PC grade strength in portable friendly chassis.
